To The Glory of God

Articles of Faith

Our Motto (as shown at the front of our church):

As in the Inyokern Baptist Church Constitution ratified by the members on June 13, 2010.

IV. Articles of Faith

A. We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, the only complete direction for our lives to be lived in harmony with God. We believe that the Holy Spirit will teach and guide in the understanding of the Bible, for our growth. We further believe that the Bible, being God’s Word, can never contradict itself.

B. We believe in one God, composed of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that all things were created by Him.

C. We believe that Jesus Christ was virgin born, and that He is truly God and truly man.  We believe that faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation from the penalty and power of sin and therefore the only way of peace and eternal life with God.

D. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and therefore is lost. Only through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit can man's salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

E. We believe that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from man's works and is possessed by any and all who have faith in and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

F. We believe in a regenerated church membership:  that is, a membership made up of persons old enough to understand their need for Jesus Christ and, of their own free will, have accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

G. We believe that baptism is by immersion only.  The Lord's Supper is a memorial to His suffering and death on the cross. These are the two ordinances to be observed by the Church in this present age.  These ordinances are not to be regarded as a requirement for one's salvation.

H. We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that His Second Coming inspires believers for a dynamic and a zealous life of service for Him.

I. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in heaven and the everlasting punishment and separation from God of the unsaved in hell.

J. We believe in the autonomy of the local church. The Church shall manage its own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization.

K.  The Bible clearly declares that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely between one man and one woman who have been united in marriage. Hence, sexual relations outside of marriage or between individuals of the same sex violate Biblical standards. This church is in doctrinal agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message. All employees and members of this Church will be expected to be in agreement with this Biblical standard regarding sexuality in both faith and practice. Accordingly, this Church, its staff and members shall not perform, host or participate in same sex unions or ceremonies of any kind.

L. We subscribe to the "Baptist Faith and Message" adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention June 14, 2000 as our larger statement of faith with scriptural references.
